Sample Project - Claret Sitting Room
Claret & Linen Colour Scheme Accented with Olive with Custom Designed Ceiling Feature & Handmade Furniture
Old double-fronted two-storey house with rising damp in need of major renovation - floor and damp proof course installed and walls re-plastered to give a good surface finish
Long narrow room (originally two separate rooms) with 9 inch beam spanning width of room - ceiling feature specially designed to conceal beam and house lighting
S shape gives illusion that room is wider than it is and sides of ceiling feature are stepped up at the edges to reduce its bulk
Lighting includes sparkle spots for atmosphere, adjustable dimmable spots to light art work on side walls and adjustable dimmable bright recessed eyeball lights for reading and tasking (extra lighting provided includes a floor standing reading light and a table light)
The end walls are painted in claret to bring them forward and give the illusion of a shorter room, the side walls are painted in linen to match the carpet and give the illusion of a wider room
Seating has been tailored to suit the narrow room and provides enough seating/lounging for family and guests
Curtains are made with a fabric that has a narrow vertical stripe to give the illusion of height to the ceiling and elegance to the windows teamed with Roman blinds that add a sense of comfort and luxury
Cheap fireplace has been given style and quality using wood mouldings and then hand painted and finished with silver finger gilt
Artwork already at residence and specially selected and positioned to maximise its display and all finishing touches sourced especially for the scheme
Pair co-ordinating freestanding cabinets are custom designed and handmade in lacquered cherry wood with a musical note design overlaid on the doors to provide concealed storage of drinks
Co-ordinating sliding cube nest of tables with curved tops that fit into one another are also custom designed and handmade in lacquered cherry wood.
