Sample Project - Classic Country Kitchen
Custom Designed Handmade Kitchen with Wood Worktop & Stainless Steel Appliances
The brief was to provide a custom design for a new kitchen to replace the outdated and worn units and worktop
The room is north facing with little light, and very long and particularly narrow creating the appearance of a tall thin space
The new design took proportion and shape into account, as well practicality and the clients’ tastes – they wanted a classic country style kitchen and a bright and uplifting colour scheme, incorporating the appliances of their choice
The middle of the dresser section is stepped out slightly to divide the length of units into thirds, creating the optical illusion of a shorter wall thereby avoiding a long galley effect
The wide dresser drawer conceals a pull-out table top so that two people can dine casually in comfort
A pair of fold away chairs can be stored in the base unit opposite the dresser
The table top is made from solid beech to match the worktop and is fully supported without the need for struts
One set of double drawer fronts positioned under the glass fronted wall cabinet conceals an integrated microwave oven
Double power points are mounted onto the sides of the dresser unit so that they are not in direct view
The latticed upper part of the doors on the tall food larder allows for ventilation to the unit
The fridge was specially selected as it has a feature which allows for the cold storage of foods such as fruit, vegetables, meat and fish for longer periods (feature is more commonly available now), so less waste of food and time
The stainless steel cooker splash-back was specially made to size
The lighting provides task lighting and concealed fittings light the displays in the glass fronted cabinets and provide atmosphere in the room
